Microsoft Windows 8 OS  released three days back on Tuesday October 26th, and with that it goes on to record four million upgrade downloads. This quite a huge number to begin the show!

“In just the last three days, we have sold four million Windows 8 upgrades,” said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in Redmond Washington before commencing of the Build Conference for software developers. Ballmer also mentioned , millions of businesses are looking forward to upgraded to the latest version of Windows.

According to the industry statistics Windows 8 is outselling the previous version of Windows 7. The touch screen Windows 8 PC experience and new tile format comes as a definite change to the long-familiar interface.

“The level of enthusiasm seen for the new products has really been stunning,” Ballmer told at the developers meet. With much of the PC market shifting rapidly to Mobiles, Microsoft ironically is receiving some good responses with the touch optimized Windows 8 OS sales!

Windows users who currently run Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 purchased anytime between 2nd June 2012 and 31st January 2013 can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro without buying the complete software pack. It is also available for download at an estimated price of RS1,999 and the DVD version costs at RS 3,499. The offer stands valid till January 31st 2013, after which the OS is expected to be priced above RS11,000. Apart from this, Windows 7 PCs bought between June 2, 2012, and January 31, 2013, are also eligible to get a Windows 8 Pro update for an estimated price of  RS 699.
