The Acer Iconia W510 – A Remarkable Laptop/Tablet Hybrid

Oct 18, 12 The Acer Iconia W510 – A Remarkable Laptop/Tablet Hybrid

The Acer Iconia W510 is a convertible, laptop/tablet hybrid and will be on sale from November 9th. We call it a laptop/tablet hybrid, as it is remarkably capable as either one!

A year ago, the Acer CEO made news by commenting that the company would stop manufacturing “cheap and unprofitable products” and concentrate on more premium items — that is, Ultrabooks. However, the W510 now resembles the notebooks marking the return of Acer to its netbook roots as it moves into the Windows 8 era.

The W510 is actually a 10.1-inch silver and white slate. And, to contrast it marvelously is the black bezel around the display that improves the aesthetic appeal of the hybrid. It has a 1366 x 768 display coming with amazing colors and wonderful viewing angles.

Let’s take a peek at the upside of this laptop. According to Acer, the keyboard dock can be used in a “presentation mode” also. In this mode, the hinge rotates so that the tablet screen projects outward – now it can be used as a presenter.

The tablet comes with an impressive battery life and is powered by the latest Intel Atom processor (1.5 GHz). There is 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage in the device. For some good news to you folks – Acer also plans to sell the Wi-Fi version of the Iconia W510 sometime soon. The company also revealed that a 3G model would be unveiled in the near future!
