Sony Mobile Communications on Monday introduced its new Android based smartphone  Sony Xperia ZR which is capable of shooting images and full HD videos underwater up to 1.5 metres (5 feet).

The Android device runs on 4.1 Jelly Bean version with Sony's custom user interface. It is packed with a Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor that clocks a speed of 1.5GHz paired to 2GB of RAM.

The manufacturer is offering an onboard storage space of 8GB along with microSD card expansion upto 32GB.

It has a 4.55-inch TFT HD reality display with 1280x720p resolution and 322ppi pixel density.

The connectivity suite on Sony Xperia ZR includes 4G LTE, NFC and DLNA compatibility.

Speaking about the underwater filming of Sony Xperia ZR, the 13 megapixel HD camera is capable  of capturing and recording under water for 30 minutes.
