Last summer, Sony unveiled its Xperia Z model – a water resistant smartphone that can be submerged in water as much as 3 feet deep.  Now Sony is launching an all new waterproof Xperia Z1 smartphone that can be submerged in water up to 4.5 feet for 30 minutes.

The water-resistant phone features a solid 21 MP camera and works well under water unlike the Xperia Z.

An upgrade of the camera from 13 MP to 20.7 MP is a head-turn factor of the device.

The latest roll out will take snap shots under water -  a new capability in addition that device bets for in the market.

The Xperia Z1 proves to be a definite improvement over its predecessor model in this aspect.

The new physical button helps click underwater snap shots without any discomforts.

The phone comes with few amazing camera apps such as broadcasting video of events in real time, 61 shots in 2 seconds to pick the right shot and information lookup by taking a photo.

While video broadcasting links can be shared on Facebook, photo information of location or book can be easily attained through a click.

Apart from this, Sony’s PlayStation game console, players will be able to buy new games for automatic download and watch footage of their friends’ game play.

One common feature found in both the devices is that they have screens measuring 5-inch diagonally.

Ravi Nookala, president of Sony Mobile Communications’ US division, said the phone is ideal for “active users who take a lot of pictures and who go outside to the pool or in the rain.”

The smartphone’s India release and pricing details haven’t been revealed yet. When it does we  will have it posted here !
