Sony on Wednesday officially launched its most anticipated Water Resistant Xperia Tablet Z across all its centers and major vendors in India. The tablet is releasing at a price tag of RS. 46,990.

According to Sony it is the thinnest design at 6.9mm and weighs 495gm. The water and dust resistant device features a 10.1 inch 1920X1200p WUXGA display with a mobile Bravia Engine 2.

It is powered by Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocking with 1.5 GHz asynchronous quad CPUs backed with 2 GB RAM.

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system that is upgradeable to the latest iteration of Android 4.2. With the kind of pricing that it is launching in the market, it is quite clear that the device is targeted at premium range of buyers.

The Xperia Tablet Z runs  sports a rear 8 MP camera with 16x digital zoom and a front facing 2 MP camera for self-portraits and video chatting. Sony had included its One-Touch feature that allows users to transfer content seamlessly from HD tablet to TV, tablet to phone and tablet to speaker by touching the two together.

Xperia Product Manager Mukesh Srivastava said, “Weighing 495 grams, the tablet is available in black in HSPA+ and WIFI versions and it is the first tablet to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro asynchronous quad-core processor.”

The manufacturer offers 16GB of internal storage memory and is expandable up to 64GB through memory card. For connectivity it has Wi-Fi, DLNA, Media Go, HDMI, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth and USB.
