The Korean smartphone maker recently unveiled its latest model called the S4 at an event held in New York. The Galaxy S4 is all set to replace S3 from being the flagship model for the company. The S3 holds a successful record since its 2012 launch and had established itself as one of the popular phone till date.

Now that the latest one is ready for roll out, everyone is keen in knowing how the latest S4 compares with the predecessor S3. And in the case of a Galaxy S3 user, it is even more crucial  and vital to find out how Samsung Galaxy S4 Vs S3 equates.


On first look, they appear similar but they aren’t exactly the same and Samsung has definitely incorporated with noticeable changes for sure. Going by the screen size S4 is slightly bigger than the S3.

The S4 retains the rounded corners and is also bit square like Galaxy S2. One of the common design feature on both is the polycarbonate plastic design. The sides of S4 sports a silver band and the ports are placed in similar positions. The home button on the S4 is slightly of different shape.


The S4 display measures 5inch diagonal that which is slightly bigger than the S3 that measures 4.8inch. By using the same AMOLED technology the S4 resolution has increased from 720×1280 up to a Full HD 1080×1920. Th the pixel density is at 441ppi.


The Samsung S3 came fitted with Exynos 4 Quad processor that clocked a speed of 1.4GHz based on the ARM Cortex-A9 architecture.

The Samsung S4 is the first of its kind to use a 8core chip consisting of four Cortex-A15 cores at 1.6GHz and other four Cortex-A7s clocked at 1.2GHz. Announcements to using of Exynos 5 Octa processor came out from Samsung’s desk at CES 2013.

The S3 sported a 1GB RAM while S4 is doubled at 2GB.


The S4 is coming in three variants 16GB, 32GB, 64GB in Black and White colors for now.


The S3 had 8MP in the rear and a 1.9MP in the front. The S4 gets a solid 13MP in the rear and 2.1MP in the front that is capable of recording full HD 1080P rather than 720P.


The S3 runs on Android 4.1.2 and the S4 ships with the 4.2.2 version. Significantly, there is not much of difference between the two versions and both support Samsung’s TouchWiz interface.

Battery and Other Details

The Galaxy S3′s 2100mAh battery has been replaced with 2600mAh in S4 to support a longer battery life and for robust actions.

Some of the new features found on Galaxy S4 includes Smart Scroll, Smart Pause and Air Gesture.
