Apr 27, 13 Micromax Claims To Have Sold One Million Smartphones

Its been two years since Micromax launched its Canvas series, and now it is boasting of one million sales of these devices. The Indigenous manufacturer had entered the market in 2008 but not until 2010 it was able to win an audience for itself in the sub-continent.

The first ever device to roll out from its desk was the A100 priced at RS.10,500. The device sported a 5inch screen running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. It packed a decent Cortex A5 Processor that clocked a speed of 1GHz.

The model drew wide attention in the local market which prompted Micromax to develop its A110. The successor too rolled out with the same 5inch screen but picked a robust Dual-Core Media Tek CPU.

Notably, the A110 shipped with  Android Ice Cream Sandwich mobile operating system, although it received a Jelly Bean update last month. Currently, the model is selling out well across the country for Rs. 10,999.

The two success stories motivated Micromax to go for developing A116 HD. The device packed a Mediatek-crafted quad core chipset and was launched at an affordable price of RS. 13,990. For some reasons, the manufacturer revised the price to Rs. 14,799.

The new device turned out to be a best selling device by far. And today, Micromax is stilling riding on its success story. Now according to the company claims it has sold one million smartphones over the years.
