Jul 05, 13 LG Optimus G Pro Vs Samsung Galaxy Note II – A Quick Comparison

LG had launched it’s phablet model in India named the Optimus G Pro which is expected to pose a stiff competetion against the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

The Optimus G Pro was announced in the month of February this year and was rolled out in to all the big markets in April. Nothing was disclosed about the India launch however, after two months the phone silently had made its way in to the Indian sub-continent.

Posed as Samsung Galaxy Note II’s competitor, the phone packs a 5.5-inch capacitive display. The True Full HD IPS Plus LCD capacitive touchscreen has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

On the comparison note, the pixel resolution and screen clarity on LG Optimus G Pro was found to be superior than Samsung Galaxy Note II, ironically – both the devices have same screen specifications.

There is no stylus accompanying the device like the one found in Samsung Galaxy Note II.

The phone uses Android Jelly Bean 4.2 which is the latest iteration of the software. Once again it is definitely an advantage over  Samsung Galaxy Note II which runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Though it is officially upgradeable Samsung is still running the older version of Android on its Galaxy Note II.

On the hardware front here is what they have under the hood;

The G Pro packs a Quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 Snapdragon 600 processor paired to 2GB of RAM. The storage facility on the device is of 32GB and is expandable up to 64GB through microSD slot.

The Galaxy Note II uses a 1.6 GHz Cortex A9 processor along-side 2GB of RAM. The storage offered by Samsung is 64GB on-board space.

Undoubtedly, on the processor front  LG Optimus G Pro leads the Note II however, it definitely beats the LG on the grounds of storage space.

LG sports a 13 MP rear camera that supports full HDR dual-video recording at 1080p@30fps. Camera features include geo-tagging, face detection, image stabilization, panorama, HDR modes. For front it has 2.1MP for video calling.

No comparisons, LG Optimus G Pro camera’s specifications are far better than the Samsung Galaxy Note II however, they need to be tested to rate the performance.

LG rolls out in two colour variants namely Black and White with 3140 mAh battery to power the device.

The phone as such is whoppingly priced at Rs 42,500. If rightly priced for Indian market the phone is capable of giving a tough challenge to other lead models.
