Hewlett-Packard is all geared to start shipping the Slate 7 for $169 in the next few days. Slate 7 is the successor model to the WebOS-based TouchPad in 2011.

The Slate 7 will sport a 7inch screen and run on Google OS Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. As of now, the official website of Hewlett-Packard lists two models namely, the Slate 7 2800 and the Slate 7 2801. The Slate 7 weighs 372gm.

Notably, the first consumer tablet from HP – the Touchpad was sold to LG Electronics last February.

The new  Slate 7 will sport a Cortex-A9 processor clocking 1.4GHz paired to 1GB of DDR3 RAM. The device is fitted with a 3MP rear camera and has a VGA front. For connectivity, it has Wi-Fi.

Other features on the device include Beats audio and a micro-SD slot.

The  Hewlett-Packard is rolling out its new device at attractive price point. It is aiming to lure customers away from  Google’s Nexus 7, Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.
