The search engine giant Google has officially said that it is launching Samsung Chromebook in India under a price tag of Rs 26,990.

Company’s India blog stated, “Starting today, people in India have more hassle-free options with the launch of the Samsung Chromebook… In addition to giving you more Chromebook options, we’re also announcing more store locations. The entire range of Chromebooks will now be available from select Reliance Digital and Croma stores in five more cities — Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore — in addition to Mumbai and Delhi.”

The Samsung Chromebook laptop will compete against Acer’s C720 and HP’s Chromebook 14 in the country.

Chromebooks are light weighing Laptops that are run Google’s Chrome OS. Windows programmes are not supported on these devices.

Samsung Chromebook sports a 11.6-inch display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution power.

An 1.7GHz Exynos 5 dual-core processor powers the Chromebook paired to 2GB of RAM.

It has 16GB of Solid State Drive (SSD) and weighs 1.1kg probably the lightest available in the country.

The battery on the Laptop offers six hours of power backup.

Common to all Chromebooks – Samsung’s too rolls out with 100GB of free Google Drive storage.

Other contemporary devices at a glance;

HP Chromebook 14 laptop is powered by Intel Celeron 2955U as the name suggests 14-inch screen and weighs 1.85kg.

The 16GB SSD, 4GB RAM and battery life of over 9.5 hours are some of its highlighting features.

Acer C720 sports Intel Celeron 2955U same as HP Chromebook 14 and comes with 11.6-inch screen and weighs 1.25kg. It has 2GB of RAM, 16GB SSD for storage and offers battery life of over 8.5 hours.
