BlackBerry's flagship models, the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 are finally ready to be unwrapped on Thursday - 31st of January in Inida after much delays and set backs. Research In Motion LTD – RIM is renamed to its signature product name“BlackBerry.”

The new software and handsets are due to be released across New York, Toronto, London, Paris, Dubai, Johannesburg and Jakarta simultaneously.

BlackBerry Z10

The Z10 measures 130 x 65.6 x 9 mm and weighs 135gms. It sports a bigger display screen than the Q10, a touch capacitive type at 4.1inch coming with 768 x 1280 Pixel resolution. The device supports an internal storage capacity of 16GB and has 2GB of RAM paired to it, memory is expandable upto 32GB through the microSD slot.

The connectivity options on the handset include Edge, GPRS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and microUSB. It has a 8MP primary camera that is capable of recording videos at 1080p with and the secondary getting 2MP for video calling. Auto focus, LED Flash, Geo-tagging, continuous auto-focus, image stabilization, face detection are some of the key camera features.

Instead of adopting to some other operating system or enhancing the platform, the Canadian manufacturer had developed an entirely new platform right from scratch called BlackBerry 10. This delayed couple of launch dates that was set  in the last year for the company.

The Z10 is powered by dual-core 1.5GHz Krait and uses a Li-Ion 1800 mAh battery, upon full charge - it is capable of offering upto 10 hours talk-time.


BlackBerry Q10

The BlackBerry Q10 comes packed with dual-core Cortex A-9 Processor clocking 1.5GHz speed paired along with 2GB of RAM. Unlike Z10, this device sports a physical QWERTY keyboard and  runs on BlackBerry 10 operating system.

The device is 10.3mm thick and weighs 139gm. It sports a 3.1inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and has a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels. Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual band, Wi-Fi hotspot, GPRS, Edge and microUSB are the available connectivity options.

The Q10 uses the same Li-Ion 1800 mAh battery as Z10 that supports upto 10 hours of talk time. It has a front and rear camera however, the specifications aren't available yet.

The Bottom Line

BlackBerry 10, BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Messenger, Camera and Keyboard are some of the key features that BlackBerry is boasting off. More than 70,000 apps are already available for BlackBerry users, Facebook and Twitter apps have already been incorporated on the devices.

The models Z10 and Q10 are expected to put BlackBerry on the comeback trail. If everything goes as expected, it will compete with Google's Android based models and Apple iPhones in the market to reclaim its past glory.
